Putting value on students’ linguistic expertise in their own language can be useful in teaching them how to do similar things in English An example of this would be to Help students build networks of support in the community. Also, Teachers can connect language and identity work in the classroom to future benefits through job applications, scholarships, and other opportunities\

It is important to be critical of the types of knowledge we value or do not value. Experiences that align with our habitus are more valued than others.
